About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential observability technology client in their search for a Staff Field Engineer to join their global team. This is a 100% remote position based in the United Kingdom.

Our client is a leader in the observability and monitoring space, working with enterprise customers to solve complex technical challenges at scale. The Field Engineering team supports presales activities by maintaining demo infrastructure, creating technical content, and serving as subject matter experts to help close strategic deals.

As a Staff Field Engineer, you'll be recognized as a top performer operating with minimal supervision on the most strategic customer engagements. You'll mentor other engineers while serving as a technical authority across the platform.

Responsibilities

• Support strategic deals and customer engagements, collaborating on complex technical challenges with little to no supervision
• Serve as a recognized Subject Matter Expert in one area of the platform with deep knowledge across multiple technologies in observability
• Craft and deliver compelling value-based technical stories to help close deals
• Own end-to-end creation of technical training content including workshops, how-to guides, and demo scripts
• Architect and maintain production demo, workshop, and POV infrastructure at scale ensuring reliability and security
• Influence product direction and represent Field Engineering in product planning cycles
• Present at strategic marketing events including conferences, webinars, and panels as a company ambassador
• Provide technical guidance to Solution Engineers, architects, and customers on best practices
• Contribute to product documentation, white papers, and blog content
• Mentor Senior and Staff-level Solution Engineers and Field Engineers

What We're Looking For

• Minimum 8+ years of related technical experience, including 2+ years in a Senior Field Engineer or equivalent presales role
• Previous experience as an SRE, Developer, Architect, or successful presales Solution Architect; open source development experience is a plus
• Excellent understanding of observability technologies with recognized Subject Matter Expert depth in at least one area
• Deep working knowledge across multiple observability technologies (monitoring, logging, tracing platforms)
• Expert-level knowledge in at least one adjacent domain beyond core observability (e.g., IoT, AI/ML)
• Experience creating and maintaining product training assets adopted by broader technical field organizations
• Demonstrated experience partnering with Product Management and Engineering to produce enablement content and influence roadmaps
• Comfortable with at least one modern programming language and strong understanding of software development lifecycle
• Working familiarity with Linux including common tools
• Practical experience using AI tools to generate and review code while maintaining quality ownership
• Ability to architect modern applications on major cloud providers (AWS, Azure, or GCP) including IaC tools like Terraform
• Understanding of Kubernetes, Docker, Serverless, Microservices, and build vs. buy tradeoffs
• Proven track record delivering strategic technical content for technical audiences including complex POVs
• Deep understanding of the sales process with ability to anticipate challenges in strategic sales cycles
