Staff Engineer, Supply

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential European marketplace organization seeking a Staff Engineer to join their Supply domain team in Berlin. In this senior technical leadership role, you will:

• Partner with domain leadership to co-create and drive the engineering strategy, ensuring technology initiatives align with product vision
• Work directly with engineers to improve and maintain critical platform systems within the Supply domain
• Establish software engineering best practices in collaboration with leadership across the organization
• Serve as the technical voice of the engineering team, initiating and supporting projects across the domain and broader company
• Create and maintain the technical roadmap for the domain, ensuring team alignment and execution
• Collaborate with other domains on shared technical responsibilities and cross-functional deliverables
• Participate in code reviews and collaborate with developers through pull requests

What We're Looking For

• Proven track record as a technical engineering leader at Staff or Principal level, with demonstrated success defining, leading, and delivering major company-wide technical initiatives
• Excellent communication skills to articulate complex technical goals to diverse internal and external audiences
• Strong ability to drive architectural vision through collaboration and iterative software design
• Fluency in spoken and written English
• Growth mindset with willingness to take on new challenges and continuously develop as both engineer and leader
• Experience with high-scale distributed systems; willingness to work with Go, Ruby on Rails, MySQL, Elasticsearch, Kafka, Kubernetes, and Docker (prior familiarity not required)
• Hands-on experience building and maintaining systems at massive scale (handling 2+ million requests per minute)
• Deep knowledge of observability tools such as Kibana, Grafana, and Datadog, with passion for introducing new engineering practices

This is a hybrid position based in Berlin, with a recommended 2 days per week in office (flexible scheduling with your team). Pay

This position does not include direct compensation through Get A Job.ai. Salary will be negotiated directly with the client upon successful placement.
