About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential cloud infrastructure consultancy seeking a Head of Migrations to lead their entire migration practice. This is a high-impact role where you will own the migration pipeline from initial assessment through to post-migration validation, working closely with major cloud platform programmes and building a repeatable methodology that scales across data centre exits, landing zone migrations, and application modernisation.

You will start as the single accountable owner, proving demand and defining delivery standards. As the practice matures, you will recruit and lead a dedicated team with full P&L accountability. This role requires SC clearance eligibility, and our client will sponsor clearance checks upon joining.

The position is based in Central London with customer site travel up to 3 days per week, varying by engagement.

Responsibilities

• Own the AWS Migration Acceleration Programme (MAP) relationship end-to-end, ensuring engagements are registered, funded, and tracked through Assess, Mobilise and Migrate phases with accurate, defensible funding claims
• Lead data centre exit programmes from estate discovery and dependency mapping through to decommissioning and contract closure
• Develop and own the end-to-end migration methodology including portfolio discovery, application assessment using the 7 Rs framework, wave planning, execution and post-migration validation
• Serve as subject-matter expert on migration assessment tooling, defining capture requirements, mapping findings to migration patterns, and building business cases from outputs
• Support commercial teams on proposals, workshops and MAP funding conversations while building trusted adviser relationships with client CTOs and infrastructure leaders
• Deliver against a six-month revenue plan, report monthly KPIs, and build the investment case for a ring-fenced migration team
• Recruit, lead and develop the migration team once approved, working to a gross profit model
• Drive AI and automation across the migration lifecycle to reduce manual effort and improve business case accuracy
• Represent the organisation publicly through speaking engagements, blogs, white papers and partnership activities

What We're Looking For

Essential:

• Proven leadership of large-scale AWS migration programmes with clear accountability for outcomes
• Working knowledge of AWS MAP including funding, credits and evidencing requirements
• Experience with data centre exit and landing zone migrations, not just application-level moves
• Ability to build TCO models and migration business cases that convince both technical architects and executive boards
• Commercial fluency with revenue, gross profit, utilisation and pipeline management
• Credibility with senior stakeholders and a track record of building trust through delivery
• Experience hiring and leading delivery teams while setting quality standards
• Comfort working without established playbooks—you will create them
• Eligibility for SC clearance (our client will sponsor checks upon joining)

Highly Desirable:

• Experience taking an organisation through AWS competency attainment
• Regulated sector experience in financial services, public sector, utilities, healthcare or defence
• Modernisation delivery including containerisation and serverless refactoring
• P&L ownership for a practice or business unit
• Experience productising delivery assets into reusable, versioned intellectual property
• Hands-on use of AI tooling to accelerate discovery, assessment and reporting
