About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential media and technology organization seeking a Staff Cyber Security Engineer to join their Security Architecture function. This fully remote role offers the opportunity to partner with diverse business units and enterprise IT teams to ensure technology deployments meet security best practices and align with broader organizational strategies.

As Staff Cyber Security Engineer, you will conduct end-to-end security and threat analysis of enterprise initiatives, serve as a technical subject matter expert across network, application, cloud, and enterprise security controls, and collaborate across the cyber organization to deliver security guidance and mitigation requirements. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced security professional who can effectively communicate the importance of cyber programs to obtain stakeholder buy-in.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive security and threat analysis of enterprise initiatives involving new or modified technology deployments
  • Incorporate Information Security best practices and guidelines into system designs
  • Serve as technical and engineering subject matter expert across network, application, cloud, and enterprise security control areas
  • Partner with business stakeholders and collaborate across the cyber organization to deliver security guidance and mitigation requirements
  • Communicate the importance of key cyber programs and services to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Develop and document security guidelines and security best practices
  • Use diagramming tools to communicate secure designs and controls
  • Provide mentorship to team members and foster a culture of continual improvement
  • Balance security guidelines and policies with operational needs to maintain desired corporate security posture

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience partnering with business and technical teams to architect and deliver cyber solutions
  • 8+ years of experience consulting with business teams regarding threat mitigation best practices in one or more technical areas (Perimeter Security, Application Security, Core Systems, EDR, Cloud, etc.)
  • Ability to explain common threats to Network, Cloud, Web, and Application environments
  • Knowledge of best practices in the cyber security industry, including OWASP Top 10 and CWE/SANS Top 25
  • Advanced technical knowledge in at least one cyber security area with ability to navigate complex challenges
  • Experience developing and documenting security guidelines or security best practices
  • Experience using diagramming tools to communicate secure designs and controls
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to tailor messaging to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Excellent time management skills to appropriately prioritize multiple concurrent projects
  • Ability to give and receive constructive feedback in a team environment
  • Willingness to provide mentorship to all team members

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience performing threat analysis and modeling leveraging frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK
  • Familiarity with security controls such as Cloud Security Matrix, NIST CSF, CIS Critical Security Controls
  • Understanding of various data and privacy regulations, including PCI DSS, SOX, HIPAA, GDPR, CCPA
  • In-depth knowledge of common Cloud Services offered (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS)
  • Understanding of Cybersecurity Engineering/Operations, Incident Response, and GRC functions
  • Empathy for engineering teams with ability to balance security requirements with operational needs
