Sr. Manager, Product Design

About This Opportunity

We are representing a fast-growing SaaS platform organization in their search for a Sr. Manager, Product Design. Our client operates at significant scale, serving businesses globally with a comprehensive business automation platform. This is a remote position based in the United States.

This is a craft-driven senior design management role for someone who can create a step change in design practice. You'll lead design for core platform experiences, mobile applications, and a design system team—managing approximately 8 product designers across distributed teams in the US and India.

Responsibilities

Team Leadership and Management

• Manage, coach and develop approximately 8 product designers across US and India-based teams
• Set clear expectations for quality, ownership, collaboration and delivery
• Hire excellent talent, onboard new designers and support intentional team growth
• Elevate designers through coaching, stretch opportunities and clear development plans
• Build a team culture that values speed, ownership, craft and customer impact

Craft and Product Excellence

• Raise the bar for design output across aesthetic quality, visual craft, interaction design and customer-centered execution
• Lead critiques and quality reviews that improve work before it reaches customers
• Ensure major releases are grounded in clear user needs, thoughtful flows and refined visual execution
• Encourage responsible use of AI-assisted tools to accelerate exploration, prototyping and production collaboration

Core Platform and Mobile Design

• Lead design execution across platform experiences supporting navigation, account management, configuration and workflow execution
• Guide mobile design for native platforms, ensuring experiences are focused, useful and appropriately adapted to mobile needs
• Partner with Product and Engineering to clarify priorities, shape roadmaps and maintain high-quality customer experiences
• Connect work across desktop, mobile and shared platform surfaces for product coherence

Design System Leadership

• Line manage the design system team and evolve the design system into a strategic accelerator for product quality and execution speed
• Partner with senior design leadership on design system strategy, priorities, governance and adoption
• Work horizontally across teams to drive adoption of shared components, patterns and interaction standards
• Reduce pattern drift through clear guidance, reusable patterns and strong quality examples

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Build strong operating partnerships with Product, Engineering, Data, Support and Customer Success
• Represent design in planning and roadmap conversations with clarity and sound product judgment
• Work effectively across time zones and cultures, especially between US and India teams
• Model the pace, ownership and adaptability expected in a high-velocity product environment

What We're Looking For

Required Experience and Skills

• 9+ years of experience in product design, UX or related disciplines
• 3+ years managing product designers
• Proven experience managing designers across complex B2B SaaS, platform, mobile or multi-product environments
• Exceptional aesthetic judgment, visual craft and interaction-design expertise
• Experience leading critique, coaching designers and helping teams make strong design decisions
• Experience leading or line managing design system work, including component libraries, shared patterns, governance and adoption
• Demonstrated ability to hire strong designers, develop talent and provide performance coaching
• Strong product judgment and comfort balancing customer needs, business outcomes, technical constraints and execution speed
• Comfort operating in fast-paced, ambiguous environments with high ownership expectations

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience managing distributed teams and working across time zones
• Experience working closely with India-based teams
• Familiarity with AI-assisted production tools such as Cursor, Claude Code or exploratory prototyping workflows
• Enthusiasm for using new tools thoughtfully to improve design velocity and collaboration
