What This Role Involves

As a Sr. Associate Software Development Engineer at Workday, you'll play a key role in building core platform features and services. In this P2-level position in our Chennai office, you'll drive technical decisions, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to the design and implementation of systems that power global enterprise software. This role balances hands-on development with increased technical leadership and architectural influence.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy high-quality software features and services for the Workday platform
• Collaborate with product managers, architects, and cross-functional teams to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions
• Write maintainable, well-tested code that adheres to engineering standards and best practices
• Participate in code reviews and architectural discussions, providing constructive feedback to peers
• Debug complex technical issues and implement robust solutions in production environments
• Contribute to system design documentation and technical specifications
• Support and mentor junior team members, fostering a culture of technical excellence

Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent professional experience
• 4+ years of professional software development experience in a production environment
• Strong proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Java, Python, C++, or Go
• Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and system design principles
• Experience designing and building scalable, distributed systems
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities
• Experience with modern development practices including version control, testing, and CI/CD pipelines
