Principal Product Advisor, Spend Management

This full-time role focuses on guiding the strategic direction and execution of Workday's spend management solutions, working directly with product and engineering teams to deliver impact for enterprise customers.

Position Summary

As Principal Product Advisor for Spend Management at Workday, you'll serve as a key strategic leader shaping how organizations manage, optimize, and control their spending. This role combines deep expertise in procurement, accounts payable, and financial controls with hands-on collaboration across product, engineering, and customer success teams. You'll influence product decisions, drive customer adoption strategies, and help define the future of modern spend management software.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Lead product strategy initiatives for spend management capabilities, translating customer and market insights into actionable roadmap priorities
• Partner with engineering and design teams to shape product requirements, conduct design reviews, and ensure solutions address real business pain points
• Engage with enterprise customers to validate concepts, gather feedback, and advise on best practices in procurement and expense control
• Analyze market trends, competitive positioning, and emerging technologies relevant to spend management
• Collaborate with go-to-market teams to support customer success and adoption of new features and capabilities
• Mentor and guide junior product team members on spend management domain expertise and strategic thinking

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive experience in product management, product strategy, or consulting focused on enterprise software or financial processes
• Deep expertise in spend management, procurement, accounts payable, or related financial domains
• Proven track record of influencing and shipping complex, high-impact products in enterprise environments
• Strong understanding of modern SaaS product development, cloud architecture, and enterprise integration patterns
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across technical and non-technical audiences
• Demonstrated ability to balance strategic vision with pragmatic, customer-centered execution
