Software Engineer – IoT/Cloud/Edge Backend (m/f/d) for the renewable energy industry

About This Opportunity

We are representing a fast-growing client in the renewable energy sector who is building the next generation of IoT infrastructure for distributed power systems. This is a rare opportunity to work on large-scale data platforms that operate across cloud and edge environments, supporting critical energy infrastructure worldwide.

As a backend engineer on our client's platform team, you will architect systems that collect, process, and analyze telemetry from industrial controllers deployed globally. Your work will directly enable predictive maintenance, real-time monitoring, and operational intelligence for renewable energy assets.

Responsibilities

• Design and own the architecture of a centralized asset management platform serving a global IoT fleet
• Build and optimize data ingestion pipelines handling high-volume telemetry from edge devices and cloud services
• Improve reliability, scalability, and observability of distributed infrastructure supporting industrial deployments
• Develop data products including performance analytics, event alerting systems, and diagnostic tools
• Collaborate with controls engineers to transform raw sensor data into actionable operational insights
• Operate and maintain production infrastructure, balancing feature development with operational excellence

What We're Looking For

Required:

• Strong software engineering fundamentals with experience in any modern programming language
• Proven track record building data ingestion systems, distributed architectures, or IoT platforms at scale
• Hands-on experience owning infrastructure and operations, not just application-layer development
• Problem-solving generalist mindset with ability to work across backend, infrastructure, and edge technologies
• Clear communication skills and proactive collaboration style in cross-functional teams

Nice to Have:

• Experience with TypeScript or Rust
• Familiarity with edge computing, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), or industrial environments
• Background in energy systems, industrial automation, or telemetry platforms

Pay
