Software Development, Senior Associate

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential federal contractor seeking a Senior COBOL/CICS/FOCUS Developer to join their team supporting critical defense payroll systems. This is a 100% remote position.

In this role, you will:

• Plan, direct, and coordinate software development activities across multiple functional areas and products
• Develop and maintain applications written in COBOL, CICS, JCL, and FOCUS for IBM mainframe operating systems
• Participate in strategic technology decisions and implementation of software solutions
• Direct software development projects, ensuring timely completion and adherence to quality standards
• Organize projects by developing comprehensive project plans including goals, strategy, roles, schedules, risk identification, and resource allocation
• Facilitate communication across project teams regarding status, variances, and technical information
• Monitor emerging technology trends and standards for new opportunities
• Prioritize and allocate projects and resources in collaboration with architects and managers

What We're Looking For

• Must be a U.S. Citizen able to obtain Public Trust clearance
• Education and experience: 2+ years with Bachelor's degree, OR 6+ years with high school diploma/equivalent, OR Master's degree
• Strong experience with COBOL and JCL in a mainframe environment (required)
• Experience with CICS and FOCUS technologies
• Proven ability to manage software requirement specifications and design documentation
• Experience designing and developing software systems from concept through implementation
• Strong project coordination and technical communication skills
