About This Opportunity
Our talent team is representing a confidential life sciences organization seeking a Senior Clinical Research Associate for their UK-based operations. This single-sponsor role focuses on site monitoring and management across the clinical trial lifecycle. You will work remotely within the United Kingdom, with regular travel to investigator sites (up to 75%).
We are looking for an experienced CRA who can operate independently, mentor junior staff, and ensure regulatory compliance while maintaining strong relationships with site personnel.
Responsibilities
- Conduct site qualification, initiation, monitoring, and close-out visits (on-site and remotely) ensuring ICH-GCP, regulatory, and protocol compliance
- Perform source document verification and reconcile clinical data entered in case report forms against medical records and site documentation
- Verify informed consent processes and documentation; maintain subject confidentiality and assess factors affecting patient safety and data integrity
- Monitor investigational product accountability, storage, dispensing, and administration per protocol requirements
- Review Investigator Site Files for accuracy and completeness; ensure proper archiving of essential documents per local regulations
- Document monitoring activities through trip reports, follow-up letters, communication logs, and tracking systems
- Manage site-level communication and activities to meet project timelines and deliverables; adapt quickly to changing priorities
- Support subject recruitment and retention strategies; escalate serious issues and develop action plans as needed
- Provide training, mentorship, and supervision to junior CRA staff; perform sign-off visits for less experienced team members
- Prepare for and participate in investigator meetings, clinical monitoring meetings, and training sessions
- Support audit readiness standards at site and project levels; assist with audit preparation and follow-up actions
- For real-world late phase studies: conduct chart abstraction, collaborate with medical science liaisons, identify sites based on local treatment patterns, and contribute to regulatory documentation
What We're Looking For
- Education: Bachelor's degree or Registered Nurse qualification in a related field, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of Good Clinical Practice/ICH Guidelines and applicable regulatory requirements
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with clinical trial software, electronic data capture systems, and general computer applications; ability to embrace new technologies
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, presentation abilities, and interpersonal effectiveness
- Critical Thinking: Moderate to advanced problem-solving skills with ability to evaluate site performance and provide strategic recommendations
- Travel: Ability and willingness to travel up to 75% within the UK on a regular basis
- Location: Must be based in the United Kingdom; this role is UK-only
- Experience: Senior-level CRA experience with demonstrated ability to work independently and mentor others
