Senior Waveform Architect (All Genders)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential defence technology client seeking a Senior Waveform Architect to join their Berlin-based team. This is a unique opportunity to own the complete architecture and implementation of tactical communication systems designed to operate in the most challenging electronic warfare environments.

Our client is developing next-generation autonomous platforms, and you will hold technical authority over their anti-jam radio waveform capabilities. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll define both the long-term technical roadmap and dive deep into complex engineering challenges.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end design and implementation of the physical layer (PHY), including waveform, modulation, coding, framing, and synchronisation from architecture through real-time execution
• Engineer robust solutions specifically for severe jamming scenarios and complex multi-node long-range link budgets
• Define and expose critical IQ, phase, and timing observables required by Direction Finding capabilities
• Establish development standards for the team, including HDL and verification conventions and FPGA build flows
• Debug and validate radio links against physical hardware in real-world conditions

What We're Looking For

Required:

• Proven track record designing PHY layers and deploying them on FPGA/SoC hardware in real-time applications
• Strong quantitative expertise in synchronisation, estimation, forward error correction (FEC), and link budget analysis
• Hands-on experience debugging physical radio links with hardware
• Authorization to work in Germany

Preferred:

• Experience with anti-jamming techniques and low probability of intercept/detection (LPI/LPD) in tactical contexts
• Professional background with recognized industry leaders in defence or communications
• Publicly verifiable PHY implementation work (custom GNU Radio modules, RFSoC toolchain contributions, or similar)
