Senior UI/UX Designer (all genders)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential digital solutions organization seeking a Senior UI/UX Designer to join their interdisciplinary project teams in Mainz. This role offers the opportunity to shape complex digital applications across public, healthcare, and regulated industry sectors including energy.

You'll take ownership of the complete design process for sophisticated enterprise applications, portals, and information platforms—thinking beyond screens to customer goals and real user problems. This position combines strategic design thinking with visual precision, requiring you to bridge customer requirements, user research insights, conceptual strength, and technical implementation.

Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end design process in client projects, from vision and design language definition through final UI delivery
• Create visually and functionally sophisticated user flows and interfaces for complex applications that are consistent, accessible, and implementable
• Provide strategic consultation to clients and project teams on digital product evolution, combining user perspectives with market observations
• Own design systems throughout their entire lifecycle, ensuring adoption across teams through documentation, contribution guidelines, reviews, and training
• Conduct client workshops, moderate discussions, and communicate design decisions clearly to non-design stakeholders
• Take creative leadership in proposals and pitches, delivering compelling presentations
• Deploy AI tools strategically within design processes and share learnings with the team
• Provide technical leadership for small UX/UI teams on client projects, offering design reviews, quality assurance, and mentoring

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years of experience in digital product conception and design with focus on UX and UI
• Completed degree in Communication Design, Interaction Design, Media Informatics, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), or comparable qualification
• Substantial experience developing, applying, and evolving design systems with strong quality standards and visual sensibility
• Confident application of UX methods, design of complex digital applications, and knowledge of digital accessibility requirements
• Proven collaboration with development teams in agile environments, including workshop facilitation and presentation of design solutions to clients and stakeholders
• Compelling portfolio demonstrating your work from problem definition through final interface, including design system experience
• Excellent German and English language skills, written and spoken

Preferred experience:

• Background in regulated sectors such as public sector, healthcare, or energy
• Technical leadership of small design teams in client projects
• Art direction experience
• Practical experience with AI-supported products, design processes, prototyping, or code generation
