Senior Technical Architect – Hybrid (Product / Platform) (m/f/d)

Responsibilities

Our client, a confidential enterprise software organization, is seeking a Senior Technical Architect to own technical design across their hybrid cloud landscape. You'll bridge two critical domains: a modern cloud-native product suite built on Node.js with AI capabilities, and integration with SAP Private Cloud platforms. Your work will be approximately 70% public cloud product architecture and 30% SAP platform architecture.

In this role, you will:

• Design microservices architectures using Node.js with API-first and event-driven patterns
• Define service boundaries, data flows, and integration patterns ensuring multi-tenant capability
• Architect AI feature integration including LLMs, RAG patterns, and agentic workflows over product data
• Design the integration layer between cloud-native products and SAP S/4HANA Private Cloud environments
• Define API and event contracts across the hybrid boundary using OData, REST, and SAP Business Events
• Establish data ownership, consistency, and synchronization patterns across both estates
• Provide architectural guidance for SAP Private Cloud extensions following clean core principles
• Collaborate on containerization, cloud deployment, and CI/CD strategies spanning both environments
• Create technical design documentation (HLD, SDD, TDD) and conduct technical reviews through the Architecture Board

What We're Looking For

We need someone with several years of experience as an architect in cloud-native environments who can credibly guide both modern cloud and SAP engineering teams.

Required qualifications:

• Strong expertise in Node.js and microservices architecture
• Experience with API design and event-driven systems
• Proven track record integrating AI capabilities into software products
• Cloud architecture experience including containers, orchestration (Kubernetes), and scaling patterns
• Working knowledge of SAP S/4HANA Private Cloud and clean core extension approaches
• Demonstrated success designing integration between cloud-native applications and ERP core systems
• High technical credibility with senior engineers across diverse technology stacks

Preferred experience:

• SAP BTP and SAP CAP (Node.js/CDS)
• Hyperscaler-hosted SAP environments
• SCM processes and SAP modules (SD, MM, EWM)
• ABAP/RAP at review level
• Vector databases, HANA Cloud, LangChain/LangGraph, or agentic orchestration

AI readiness: Our client expects architects to work productively with AI assistants in daily design work, judge AI output critically, generate and maintain architecture artifacts with AI support, and design AI-native capabilities with appropriate guardrails and cost/latency awareness.

This is a hybrid role based in Hamburg. You'll work as part of the Engineering function at Senior or Principal level within the Architecture Board.
