Senior System Engineer Microsoft 365 und Automatisierung (m/w/d)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential professional services organization in Hamburg seeking a Senior System Engineer specializing in Microsoft 365 and automation. In this role, you will take ownership of operating, advancing, and automating our client's Microsoft 365, Azure, and identity environments.

Your core responsibilities include:

• Managing and evolving Microsoft 365, Azure, and Entra ID platforms, including administration of hybrid identity and directory services with synchronization and permissions
• Administering Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and Exchange environments—both on-premises and online—including mail flow, connectors, and migrations
• Designing and maintaining MFA and Conditional Access policies
• Analyzing and automating manual processes using PowerShell, Microsoft Graph, and REST APIs
• Developing and documenting scripts and workflows for user lifecycle management, including integration with HR, directory, and line-of-business systems via interfaces
• Troubleshooting and resolving complex synchronization, authentication, and permissions issues while providing 3rd-level support
• Planning, leading, and technically implementing IT projects and migrations, coordinating internal stakeholders, external service providers, and vendors
• Creating and maintaining technical operational and emergency documentation, and mentoring less experienced team members

What We're Looking For

• Several years of hands-on experience administering Microsoft 365, Azure, and Entra ID
• Strong knowledge of Active Directory, hybrid identity environments, and Exchange
• Excellent PowerShell skills and practical experience with Microsoft Graph and REST APIs
• Proven experience planning and executing migration projects
• Independent, structured, and solution-oriented working style
• Strong communication skills when working with business units, vendors, and service providers
• Desirable: Knowledge of Exchange hybrid scenarios, SQL, LDAP, PKI, or additional programming languages; experience with ITIL-based Incident, Change, and Problem Management
• Very good German language skills in writing and speaking, at least C1 level or equivalent, ensuring reliable internal communication
