About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential autonomous vehicle technology company in their search for a Senior Software Engineer to join their Fleet Enablement & Insights team. This is a unique opportunity to work on critical infrastructure that powers map validation, simulation pipelines, and web-based annotation platforms for an autonomous trucking platform.

As a technical leader on this team, you'll architect and build systems that span multiple domains—from geospatial data processing to high-performance 3D rendering in the browser. You'll own hard engineering problems at the intersection of distributed systems, large-scale data operations, and autonomous vehicle technology.

Responsibilities

• Architect, build, and own backend services and data pipelines that power map validation and simulation systems for autonomous trucks
• Provide technical leadership for scalable web-based annotation tooling, including cuboid and polygon editing, cross-frame interpolation, track propagation, and review workflows
• Design robust data models and storage architectures across relational, spatial, and large-scale object stores, ensuring data integrity and performance
• Build high-performance point cloud and image rendering with three.js/WebGL, implementing octree/LOD-based streaming, predictive prefetching, camera-LiDAR projection, and multi-sensor overlays
• Leverage AWS cloud services (S3, Lambda, ECS, RDS) to build and deploy scalable, reliable pipelines and set engineering standards for the team
• Drive technical design and architecture decisions across map validation and annotation platform domains
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Mapping, Simulation, Annotation, and Perception
• Mentor engineers through code reviews, design reviews, and pairing sessions
• Identify and drive down technical debt, performance bottlenecks, and reliability gaps across the stack

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

• 5+ years building and operating production backend services at scale
• Strong expertise in Python with a track record of shipping production-quality services
• Strong proficiency with SQL for querying, transforming, and analyzing data
• Experience designing web services and APIs supporting web-based tooling, with knowledge of TypeScript and modern web frameworks
• Working knowledge of C++, or ability to ramp quickly
• Database and data-modeling expertise, including hands-on experience with PostgreSQL
• Demonstrated ownership of system design and architecture for complex, multi-service systems
• Proficiency with Git/GitHub and project management tools like JIRA
• Strong software engineering fundamentals including data structures, algorithms, distributed systems, and reliability engineering
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field, or equivalent experience

Bonus Qualifications:

• Experience with data annotation, labeling, or data-delivery platforms
• Familiarity with PostGIS for spatial queries and geospatial data management
• Experience with large binary or sensor datasets (point clouds, imagery, video)
• Knowledge of point cloud rendering and streaming formats (octree/LOD structures, 3D Tiles, LAS/LAZ)
• Experience with browser-based 3D graphics (three.js, WebGL)
• Prior work with High-Definition maps or map formats (OpenDRIVE, NDS, Lanelet2)
• Familiarity with robotics data ecosystems (Rerun, Foxglove, MCAP, ROS bags)
• Background in autonomous vehicles
• Open-source contributions to geospatial, data engineering, or robotics projects

Pay

Pay via Get A Job.ai: $160,800 - $193,000 USD annually. Final compensation will be determined based on your experience, skills, and geographic location. This role may also include bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits through our client.
