Windchill Backend Developer

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential technology consulting organization seeking an experienced Windchill Backend Developer for a 100% remote position across the United States. This is a full-time, direct W2 role offering significant career growth potential with an established client in the enterprise software space.

Our talent team is looking for engineers who thrive on deep platform customization work—building services, listeners, and processors that extend Windchill's core capabilities while maintaining clean, upgrade-safe code. You'll collaborate with product, design, engineering, and business teams to translate complex requirements into robust solutions, mentor junior developers, and maintain high engineering standards through code and design reviews.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement low-level Windchill customizations using Java and PTC APIs
• Extend platform behavior through services, listeners, and processors while preserving upgrade compatibility
• Work with cross-functional teams to translate ambiguous requirements into well-engineered technical solutions
• Conduct code reviews and design reviews to maintain engineering quality standards
• Mentor junior engineers and elevate team technical practices
• Support Windchill upgrades and ensure customizations remain compatible across versions
• Troubleshoot complex technical issues and maintain comprehensive documentation
• Optimize performance and maintain production stability for deployed solutions

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical discipline
• 6+ years of Java development experience with strong focus on Windchill customization
• Deep hands-on expertise with Windchill Java API and customization frameworks
• Solid understanding of Windchill data model, lifecycle, and workflow internals
• Strong Java object-oriented design and performance engineering skills
• Experience with JSP, HTML, and Windchill client-side customization
• Hands-on experience with Type and Attribute Management (TAM)
• Strong SQL skills with Oracle or SQL Server experience
• Proven experience supporting Windchill upgrades
• Excellent troubleshooting and technical documentation abilities

Preferred qualifications:

• PTC Windchill development certifications
• Experience with PTC ThingWorx development
• Exposure to Windchill RV&S customization
• Familiarity with CI/CD tooling for Windchill environments
• Experience operating Windchill in cloud environments

Pay
