PTC Java Engineer

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential technology client seeking an experienced Java engineer with deep expertise in PTC Windchill customization. This is a 100% remote, full-time position for candidates located anywhere in the United States.

Our client is looking for someone who thrives on platform-level engineering—building custom services, listeners, processors, and validators while maintaining clean, upgrade-friendly code. You'll work closely with product, design, and operations teams to translate complex requirements into durable solutions that perform well in production.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop advanced Java customizations within Windchill, including custom services, listeners, processors, validators, and helpers
• Extend the Windchill data model with custom types, attributes, and relationships using Type and Attribute Management
• Build custom JSP and HTML extensions, including tables, actions, and wizard pages
• Develop custom queues and background processes for asynchronous tasks
• Implement complex workflow expressions and robot delegates in Java with disciplined engineering practices
• Optimize performance through profiling, query tuning, and caching strategies
• Lead migration efforts from legacy customizations to modern PTC-supported patterns
• Conduct code reviews and uphold engineering standards across the team
• Provide hands-on post-go-live support, triaging incidents and driving durable fixes
• Maintain comprehensive technical documentation including architecture diagrams, design decisions, and runbooks
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through code review, design review, and pair programming

What We're Looking For

Required:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical discipline
• 5+ years of Java development experience with strong focus on Windchill customization
• Deep hands-on experience with the Windchill Java API and customization frameworks
• Solid understanding of Windchill data model, lifecycle, and workflow internals
• Strong Java object-oriented design and performance-engineering skills
• Experience with JSP, HTML, and Windchill client-side customization
• Hands-on experience with Type and Attribute Management (TAM)
• Strong SQL skills with Oracle or SQL Server
• Experience supporting Windchill upgrades
• Excellent troubleshooting and documentation skills

Preferred:

• PTC Windchill development certifications
• Experience with PTC ThingWorx development
• Exposure to Windchill RV&S customization
• Familiarity with CI/CD tooling for Windchill
• Experience operating Windchill in cloud environments
