Engineering Manager, Billing Products

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential fintech platform in their search for an Engineering Manager, Billing Products. Our client operates critical financial infrastructure serving businesses from enterprise to startup scale. This role will lead a team building sophisticated billing and revenue management solutions used by hundreds of thousands of businesses worldwide.

As an Engineering Manager on the billing products team, you'll lead engineers building configurable, programmable billing technology that supports diverse business models—from SaaS subscriptions to complex multi-stage contracts, analytics, and retention tools. This is a product-focused leadership role where you'll partner closely with cross-functional teams to shape strategy and deliver customer-facing solutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a high-performing team of software engineers building billing platform products
• Partner with engineering leaders, product managers, and designers to define team strategy and roadmap
• Apply first principles thinking to complex technical problems and system design challenges
• Build and maintain a healthy team culture with high trust and psychological safety
• Establish processes that enable the team to execute effectively in a fast-paced environment
• Coach and mentor engineers to advance their careers and develop new technical skills
• Contribute to engineering-wide initiatives as part of the broader engineering management team
• Collaborate with recruiting to hire strong engineering talent
• Engage directly with platform users to understand needs and guide product development

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• 4+ years of engineering management experience
• 8+ years of full-time software development experience
• Proven track record of hiring and leading productive engineering teams
• Experience fostering supportive, challenging, diverse, and inclusive work environments
• Strong ability to work cross-functionally and lead teams toward measurable product outcomes
• Technical background with hands-on experience solving large-scale, difficult technical problems
• Experience building extensible, leveraged software solutions that scale to diverse user needs
• Ability to thrive with high autonomy and responsibility

Preferred qualifications:

• Strong product and design sense with ability to find elegant solutions to complex problems
• Track record building cross-team relationships that span organizational boundaries
• Experience building and leading distributed teams across multiple locations and time zones
