About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential workflow automation platform in their search for a Senior Software Engineer focused on Developer Experience. This Berlin-based organization is at the forefront of AI-native engineering practices and is building one of the most innovative developer platforms in Europe.

This is a first-of-a-kind role where you'll define how autonomous AI agents become trusted contributors within a production engineering environment. You'll build the platform foundations, safety models, and evaluation frameworks that enable agentic development without compromising quality or security.

Responsibilities

Your primary goal will be maintaining and evolving the infrastructure that makes AI-assisted development safe, measurable, and sustainable across the engineering organization.

Build the Paved Road for Agentic Development:

• Define safe task categories for autonomous agents, including permitted actions, prohibited operations, and review requirements
• Design and implement isolated execution environments that protect secrets and sensitive systems
• Build pilot workflows that convert selected issues into useful draft pull requests

Make the Monorepo Agent-Ready:

• Create and maintain repository instructions, agent playbooks, ownership metadata, and coding guidelines
• Continuously improve developer workflows, repository structure, and testability based on agent performance data
• Partner with Architecture and senior engineers to define boundaries and constraints for agent operations

Integrate Agents into Engineering Workflows:

• Integrate agentic workflows with issue tracking, version control, CI systems, and test infrastructure
• Design pull request evidence templates that help reviewers understand changes, risks, and test coverage
• Collaborate across Security, Platform, and product engineering teams to define guardrails for sensitive code paths

Measure Quality, Safety, and Adoption:

• Create benchmarks from real engineering tasks to evaluate agent output quality and failure modes
• Define quality signals including draft usefulness rate, reviewer acceptance rate, and CI pass rate
• Use data and feedback to improve agent workflows and build trust across engineering teams

What We're Looking For

Must-Have Qualifications:

• Experience with autonomous coding agents, AI coding platforms, or internal AI developer tooling
• Practical experience building or operating AI-assisted software development workflows
• Strong software engineering background in platform engineering, developer experience, infrastructure, or CI/CD
• Comfortable leading first-of-a-kind technical initiatives from problem definition through adoption
• Deep understanding of modern engineering workflows: GitHub, CI, testing strategies, code review, monorepos
• Strong judgment around permissions, secrets, sandboxing, and human-in-the-loop review requirements
• Ability to design benchmarks, quality signals, and adoption metrics
• Excellent written communication for technical documentation, proposals, and alignment materials
• Cross-functional influence skills with credibility among senior engineers

Nice-to-Have Experience:

• Large TypeScript, Node.js, or JavaScript monorepo experience
• GitHub Actions, automated testing infrastructure, or internal developer platforms
• Security-aware platform engineering including sandboxing and secrets management
• AI evaluation frameworks or quality metrics for AI-generated code
• Open-source or source-available project contributions
• B2B SaaS environments with high reliability and customer trust requirements
• Workflow automation or integration platform knowledge
