Senior Software Engineer – Cloud Partner Integrations

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential cloud database organization seeking a founding Senior Software Engineer to lead their cloud partner integrations practice. This is a rare opportunity to set technical direction from the ground up, building the integrations that bring enterprise database services into the environments customers already trust—major cloud platforms, BI tools, and developer marketplaces.

As the founding backend engineer on this team, you'll have end-to-end ownership of complex integrations that cross organizational and trust boundaries. You'll work within the constraints of external platforms you don't control, navigating thin documentation and partner approval cycles while maintaining production reliability. This role combines deep technical ownership with the ambiguity and autonomy of early-stage team building.

Responsibilities

• Own integration architecture end-to-end: authentication flows, identity federation, multi-tenancy design, data movement patterns, and production operations
• Build and maintain production systems on top of external cloud platforms, handling incomplete documentation and evolving partner requirements
• Run what you build—you'll be on-call for your own work, owning infrastructure, CI/CD, deployment pipelines, and observability from day one
• Design for scale and longevity, making architectural decisions that a growing team will inherit and build upon
• Partner with internal platform teams to define clear interfaces and unblock dependencies without waiting for others
• Document technical decisions through design docs, RFCs, and detailed pull requests that help coordinate distributed teams
• Set technical standards and best practices for cloud partner integrations across the organization

What We're Looking For

Required:

• 5+ years building production software, with significant experience in data-intensive systems or platform integrations
• Strong backend and distributed systems fundamentals—you can reason about deployment topology, multi-tenancy isolation, and make sound architectural tradeoffs
• Hands-on experience with modern authentication protocols, service principals, OAuth/OIDC, and identity federation across trust boundaries
• Track record of building on third-party platforms and managing the realities of incomplete docs, breaking changes, and partner dependencies
• Comfort operating in ambiguity—shipping before specs are finalized, making sensible calls under uncertainty, and clearly flagging irreversible decisions
• Strong collaboration skills with engineering teams you don't directly manage, earning trust through technical judgment and clear communication
• Backend engineering focus with enough JavaScript/TypeScript capability to contribute across the stack when needed
• Proficiency with AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot) and transparency about where you leverage them
• Excellent written communication—most coordination happens through design docs, PRs, and technical writing

Nice to Have:

• Familiarity with major cloud data platform ecosystems or analytics tools
• Deep expertise in auth/identity federation or experience shipping through partner marketplaces and certification processes
• Experience designing multi-tenant SaaS platforms with complex isolation and deployment requirements
• Working knowledge of columnar databases or OLAP engines
