Cloud Platform Engineer (m/w/d)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential cloud infrastructure organization based in Hannover that is building a sovereign, self-hosted cloud platform across German data centers. This is a green-field opportunity to architect and operate a production-grade, cloud-native environment serving critical workloads for highly regulated sectors.

As Cloud Platform Engineer, you will:

• Design, build, and evolve a multi-cluster Kubernetes platform with full operational control—no hyperscaler dependencies
• Architect high-availability clusters including networking, storage, load balancing, and authentication components
• Define and maintain the tenant isolation model: dedicated customer environments with complete lifecycle ownership
• Collaborate with development teams on performance and availability requirements for cluster and tenant architecture
• Advance the high-availability concept, including distributed in-memory approaches across nodes to ensure real-time application capability
• Implement GitOps workflows using ArgoCD and Fleet for fully automated delivery and day-2 operations
• Build Infrastructure as Code and Policy as Code frameworks using Ansible, Terraform, or comparable tooling
• Standardize CI/CD integration and deployment processes across the platform
• Enable platform engineering for internal teams: self-service capabilities, standards definition, and onboarding support
• Support development teams migrating workloads to the cloud platform
• Analyze monitoring data and incident patterns to continuously improve stability, security, and performance

What We're Looking For

Must-Have:

• Several years of experience in cloud or platform engineering, container technologies, or infrastructure automation
• Deep Kubernetes expertise, ideally from operating production multi-cluster environments
• Hands-on experience with GitOps workflows (ArgoCD or Fleet preferred) and Infrastructure as Code (Ansible, Terraform, or similar)
• Fluent German (minimum C1 level) and strong English, written and spoken
• Willingness to travel for client meetings and visits to additional office locations

Nice-to-Have:

• Experience with SUSE stack or comparable Kubernetes management platforms
• Knowledge of DevSecOps, Policy as Code, or high-availability concepts
• Familiarity with monitoring stacks such as Prometheus and Grafana
