Senior Software Engineer

About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential renewable energy technology organization based in Leipzig. They are building critical software infrastructure that enables distributed energy assets to participate intelligently in modern electricity markets. We're seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their control systems team and help scale their platform.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

• Design and build distributed control systems that coordinate fleets of renewable energy assets
• Translate complex energy-market and grid requirements into reliable software behavior
• Build services responsible for communicating with physical assets and processing telemetry, status, and capabilities
• Design systems that handle edge cases gracefully—device failures, network unreliability, late messages, and temporary asset unavailability
• Build highly observable and resilient services that operate continuously in production
• Own your services end-to-end: from architecture and implementation through deployment, monitoring, and operation
• Collaborate closely with energy-market specialists to understand domain problems and turn them into pragmatic technical solutions
• Make architectural and technical decisions that balance reliability, scalability, simplicity, and delivery speed
• Mentor other engineers and elevate the technical standards across the team

What We're Looking For

Our client needs someone with:

• Several years of professional software engineering experience building and operating production backend systems
• Demonstrated experience designing and architecting distributed systems
• A "you build it, you run it" mindset with familiarity in Linux, Docker, and Kubernetes
• Strong backend development experience with Go or another modern programming language (Go is their primary language, but prior experience is not required)
• Experience with asynchronous and event-driven systems; familiarity with NATS, Kafka, RabbitMQ, or MQTT is a plus
• Solid understanding of both SQL and NoSQL databases; experience with InfluxDB or Timescale is beneficial
• A self-starter mentality who thrives in fast-paced startup environments
• Clear and confident communication skills in English
