Senior Site Reliability Engineer

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential fintech organization seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join their London-based team. Our client is a rapidly scaling technology company serving major financial institutions globally, and this role offers the chance to work on mission-critical infrastructure at significant scale.

As part of a globally distributed SRE team, you'll be responsible for maintaining production systems that power core banking and payments platforms for some of the world's most influential financial institutions. This is a high-impact position where you'll collaborate with senior stakeholders and tackle complex engineering challenges that are critical to the company's growth.

Responsibilities

• Support product engineering teams in building highly fault-tolerant, scalable applications through design discussions, RFCs, and code reviews
• Execute department strategies by contributing to design and scoping work around disaster recovery, backup, redundancy, and capacity planning
• Participate in global on-call rotation, identifying and resolving bottlenecks in SaaS customer environments
• Perform regular maintenance of production systems hosting banking products
• Drive the evolution of SaaS products by defining and designing features that enhance reliability and user experience
• Implement and regularly test disaster recovery strategies to ensure platform resilience and fault tolerance
• Maintain high-quality documentation of assets, processes, and runbooks for team operations
• Mentor team members in technical skills and product knowledge, working with your manager to foster growth

What We're Looking For

• Proven track record of delivering high-impact projects with focus on long-term scalability, ensuring human intervention scales sub-linearly with usage growth
• Current understanding of design patterns relevant to hosting and networking architectures
• Strong background working in Python or Golang, having used one of these languages to execute a significantly sized project or initiative
• Experience with Kubernetes or other container orchestration systems
• Experience with automation/configuration management tools such as Terraform, Puppet, Chef, or Ansible
• Expertise in one or more of the following: Database Administration, Networking, Observability Tools (Prometheus, Jaeger), or automation infrastructure
• Extensive experience working with GCP or AWS
• High-agency individual who can independently drive projects to completion and effectively delegate work to team members
• Proactive approach to product development, driven by desire to build exceptional products beyond solving immediate challenges
