Platform Engineer – AI and Internal Tooling

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential blockchain infrastructure company based in London. Our client operates critical systems within the Ethereum ecosystem and has maintained profitability while scaling their engineering operations. We're seeking a Platform Engineer to join their small, high-performing technical team and build the internal tooling and AI-assisted systems that will multiply their engineering leverage.

This is a role for someone who sees friction in developer workflows and knows how to eliminate it. You'll work on AI-powered code review systems, intelligent production debugging tools, internal knowledge platforms, and automation that turns manual investigation into assisted workflows. The infrastructure you build will directly impact how a world-class engineering team ships and operates software.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement AI-assisted engineering tools that improve code review, debugging, and investigation workflows using appropriate models and infrastructure
• Build systems that make terabytes of operational data accessible across the organization without requiring knowledge of underlying databases or infrastructure
• Create internal tools that remove friction from CI/CD, deployment workflows, and daily engineering tasks
• Develop operational automation that investigates alerts, gathers context from logs and traces, and prepares fixes for engineer review
• Establish safe execution boundaries for AI agents with appropriate access controls, approval workflows, and audit trails
• Identify opportunities where better tooling can meaningfully reduce engineering overhead and execute end-to-end from concept to deployment
• Consolidate internal knowledge spread across code repositories, documentation, messaging, and incident reports into accessible systems

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• High agency and self-direction—comfortable identifying problems independently and driving them to completion without detailed specification
• Strong software engineering fundamentals with ability to build complete systems spanning backend services, data infrastructure, and user interfaces
• Product judgment for internal tooling—understanding where automation removes genuine friction versus where it adds complexity
• High drive and ability to move quickly while maintaining quality standards
• Track record of building tools or systems that meaningfully improved team productivity

Valued but not required:

• Experience building AI agents, tool-using models, evaluation frameworks, or model routing systems
• Background making large analytical datasets accessible to non-technical users
• Infrastructure automation experience with cloud providers, CI/CD systems, and observability platforms
• Familiarity with blockchain technology or Ethereum infrastructure (several strong engineers on this team joined with zero crypto experience)

Work arrangement: This is a London office-based position with flexibility when life requires it, but the default expectation is in-person collaboration. UK work visa sponsorship is available for candidates who need it.

Compensation

Our client offers top-of-market base salary for this London-based role, with performance-based bonus, equity grants, private healthcare, and gym membership. Compensation details will be discussed during the screening process based on your experience level.
