Senior Project Management Officer (m/w/d)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential consulting organization in Berlin that is seeking a Senior Project Management Officer to join their established project management office. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced PMO professional who thrives in a structured IT consulting environment and wants to take ownership of critical project governance functions.

Our client operates at scale, managing hundreds of concurrent projects annually, and is looking for someone who can provide strategic support to project leadership while continuously improving PMO processes and standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on support and relief to project leads and the PMO team in daily operations
• Prepare, coordinate, moderate, and independently conduct working sessions, status meetings, and client appointments
• Track action items and escalate open issues across multiple projects with accountability
• Assume deputy project leadership responsibilities, and occasionally full project leadership
• Ensure quality assurance and reporting across the project portfolio, deriving steering needs from project KPIs
• Conduct quality management sessions with project leads
• Continuously develop PMO processes, methodologies, and templates while ensuring compliance
• Contribute to onboarding and training new consultants in project management: organize and deliver workshops and training sessions

What We're Looking For

• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in project environments, with substantial experience in PMO or project management roles
• Strong knowledge of common project management methods and tools
• Certification in IPMA, PMP, or agile methodologies is highly desirable
• Meticulous, structured working style with excellent prioritization skills and ability to independently identify areas for action
• Strong communication and organizational skills with a confident, friendly presence and ability to handle escalations professionally
• German language proficiency at minimum C1 level required
• Comfortable in IT environments with strong command of MS Office and Microsoft 365 products
• Analytical and conceptual thinking with foundational understanding of project calculations
• Experience with risk management and quality gates
• Confident presence in complex organizational structures with reliable communication style
• Curiosity and enthusiasm for leveraging AI tools such as Copilot and Claude in project work
• Advantageous: Industry knowledge in housing/real estate or experience in SAP environments
