Managing Director (m/w/d)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential management consulting organization in Köln that is entering an exciting growth phase. As Managing Director, you will hold strategic, operational, and financial responsibility for the business unit while actively shaping its future direction.

In this role, you will:

• Lead the overall business unit with full P&L accountability, reporting directly to senior leadership
• Manage and develop a team of consultants, trainers, and coaches, fostering a culture of trust, accountability, and collaborative excellence
• Deepen existing client relationships while acquiring new clients and identifying additional growth opportunities
• Drive strategic portfolio development, setting direction for new business areas and future-ready business models
• Contribute your expertise to selected high-impact projects and strategically important client engagements
• Strengthen the business unit's market positioning and serve as a key liaison across the broader organization
• Lead the expansion of digital and hybrid service offerings as part of the organization's evolution

What We're Looking For

Our client seeks an entrepreneurial leadership personality who can provide direction, build trust, communicate with clarity, and make decisive choices.

Required qualifications:

• Extensive leadership and management experience with demonstrated responsibility for teams, business units, or comparable organizational structures
• Entrepreneurial mindset with strong understanding of business economics and keen market and customer insight
• Background in management or organizational consulting, ideally in leadership development, transformation, change management, talent assessment, or organizational development
• Track record of leading or operationally managing comparable projects
• Ability to connect strategic vision with pragmatic execution, translating ideas into sustainable results
• Proven experience expanding client relationships, developing new business opportunities, and advancing products and service areas
• Excellent communication and storytelling capabilities with polished presence across diverse audiences and stakeholders
• Experience with or strong understanding of digital business models, hybrid service offerings, and scalable services
• Comfort operating in dynamic, high-growth environments with strong self-motivation and organizational skills
• Willingness to conduct meetings and projects both virtually and on-site, with corresponding travel readiness
• Completed degree (Diplom or Master) in business administration, economics, psychology, or comparable field
