About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential academic research institution in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. Our client is seeking a Research Engineer to develop cutting-edge real-time deformation measurement methods for industrial structures. This role is based in Saint-Étienne, France, and offers the chance to contribute to significant advances in structural monitoring and numerical mechanics research.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement real-time (online) deformation field measurement methods using camera-based observation of industrial structures
- Apply Digital Image Correlation (DIC) techniques to analyze structural behavior
- Analyze shear amplitude distribution, a critical parameter for structural service life
- Contribute to ongoing software development projects in the field of structural surveillance
- Collaborate with the numerical mechanics research team on infrastructure monitoring with high societal impact
- Document methodologies and findings for academic and applied research purposes
What We're Looking For
- Engineering degree (Ingénieur diploma) required, ideally in Physics or a related field
- Entry-level to junior experience in relevant domains is acceptable
- Strong software development skills
- Proficiency in image analysis and field measurement techniques
- Knowledge of computer science, optics, and continuum mechanics
- Autonomy, curiosity, and strong adaptability
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative research environment
