Senior Product Manager – Marine Insurance

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential maritime intelligence organization seeking a Senior Product Manager - Marine Insurance to join their London team. This is a rare opportunity to build a new product category from the ground up, working at the intersection of shipping data, trade intelligence, and marine insurance.

You will own the marine insurance product end-to-end—from strategy and roadmap through to first release and go-to-market. Your initial focus will be developing an exposure screening product for insured fleets, enabling customers to load their insured fleet, attach policy values, and continuously monitor exposure and accumulation against live global fleet data.

This role suits an experienced product leader comfortable operating in early-stage, ambiguous environments with a proven track record of taking B2B data, analytics, or SaaS products from concept through to customer adoption.

Responsibilities

• Own the marine insurance product strategy, vision, and roadmap, defining priorities while balancing customer value, commercial opportunity, technical feasibility, and time to market
• Lead development and delivery of the first product release focused on exposure screening across the live global fleet
• Conduct market and customer discovery with hull and cargo underwriters, war-risk underwriters, P&I clubs, brokers, claims teams, and exposure-management professionals
• Define and refine the product proposition and customer experience, translating complex maritime data into clear, actionable outcomes for insurance professionals
• Establish exposure and accumulation methodology underpinning the product, working with data and domain experts to ensure credibility and trust
• Own positioning and competitive strategy, monitoring the marine insurance analytics landscape and defining clear differentiation
• Lead go-to-market strategy, collaborating with Sales and Marketing on positioning, packaging, pricing input, launch planning, and early customer adoption
• Identify and develop strategic partnerships across the insurance ecosystem to accelerate adoption
• Create alignment between Product, Engineering, Data, Sales, and Marketing teams around strategy, priorities, and customer outcomes
• Track product performance, customer feedback, delivery progress, and key risks using evidence to continuously refine the roadmap

What We're Looking For

Required:

• 5–7 years of Product Management or senior commercial experience, ideally within maritime data, shipping intelligence, marine insurance, or a closely related B2B data/SaaS environment
• Proven track record owning products end-to-end, from strategy and customer discovery through to delivery, launch, and adoption
• Strong ability to translate complex customer needs into clear product strategy, roadmap priorities, and product requirements
• Understanding of the marine insurance data landscape, including exposure, accumulation, sanctions, and war-risk screening
• Experience operating in ambiguous, early-stage environments with a pragmatic, iterative approach to building and launching products
• Commercial and go-to-market experience, including product positioning, packaging, pricing input, and launch planning
• Data and analytical literacy with ability to work effectively with data and engineering teams and understand maritime concepts such as AIS, ownership, and trade flows
• Excellent stakeholder management skills across technical, commercial, and senior external audiences
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to influence stakeholders across different levels and functions
• Strong ownership mindset and bias to action, with confidence to make decisions and navigate uncertainty

Preferred:

• Direct experience within marine insurance, particularly hull and machinery, cargo, war risk, or P&I
• Experience building and launching a new product line rather than managing an established product
• Established network across underwriters, brokers, and P&I clubs
• Understanding of the regulatory environment affecting marine insurance, including sanctions regimes and war-risk designations
