Senior Product Manager, Fisheries / IUUF

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential maritime intelligence organization seeking a Senior Product Manager to build and own a new Fisheries product line from the ground up. This is a rare opportunity to define product strategy, roadmap, and go-to-market for a solution addressing seafood supply chain transparency and illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing.

You will work directly with seafood buyers, retailers, processors, certification bodies, regulators, and NGOs to create live fleet monitoring and catch reporting capabilities that procurement and compliance teams can rely on. This role requires comfort with ambiguity, a strong commercial mindset, and the ability to translate complex customer needs into trusted data products.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end product strategy, vision, and roadmap for the Fisheries product line, balancing customer value, commercial opportunity, technical feasibility, and time to market
• Lead development and delivery of the first product release focused on live fleet monitoring and catch/yield reporting for procurement and compliance teams
• Conduct market and customer discovery with seafood buyers, retailers, processors, certification bodies, regulators, and NGOs to understand needs and translate insights into product direction
• Define product proposition and customer experience, ensuring data and intelligence translate into clear, actionable outcomes across the seafood supply chain
• Establish vessel identity, dark-behaviour, and catch-estimation methodologies, working with data and domain experts to ensure credible, transparent outputs
• Own positioning and competitive strategy, monitoring the commercial and NGO landscape and defining clear differentiation
• Lead go-to-market strategy, collaborating with Sales and Marketing on positioning, messaging, packaging, pricing input, launch planning, and early customer adoption
• Identify and develop strategic partnerships across the seafood supply chain, including data, certification, and distribution partnerships
• Act as key link between Product, Engineering, Data, Sales, and Marketing to create alignment around strategy, priorities, and customer outcomes
• Track product performance, customer feedback, delivery progress, and risks, using evidence to continuously refine the roadmap

What We're Looking For

Required:

• 5–7 years of Product Management or senior commercial experience, ideally within maritime data, seafood supply chains, or related B2B data/SaaS environment
• Proven track record owning products end-to-end, from strategy and customer discovery through delivery, launch, and adoption
• Strong ability to translate complex customer needs into clear product strategy, roadmap priorities, and product requirements
• Strong understanding of the fisheries data landscape, including vessel tracking, IUU risk, catch documentation, and supply chain traceability
• Experience in ambiguous, early-stage environments with pragmatic, iterative approach to building and launching products
• Strong commercial and go-to-market experience, including product positioning, packaging, pricing input, and launch planning
• Data and analytical literacy with ability to work effectively with data and engineering teams on maritime and trade data concepts (AIS, vessel identity, geospatial analysis, ownership, flows)
• Excellent stakeholder management skills across technical, commercial, regulatory, and NGO audiences
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for senior external stakeholders
• Strong ownership mindset and bias to action, with confidence to make decisions and navigate uncertainty

Preferred:

• Direct experience within fisheries or seafood sector, particularly procurement, traceability, or certification
• Experience building and launching a new product line rather than managing an established product
• Established network across seafood buyers, certification bodies, regulators, or fisheries NGOs
• Understanding of relevant fisheries regulations, including IUU regulations, US SIMP, or EU carding system
