Senior Operational Risk Analyst

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential financial services organisation seeking a Senior Operational Risk Analyst for a group-level role in London. You will work across product, operations, technology, compliance, and dealing functions to identify, assess, and manage operational risks through to full mitigation.

Your core responsibilities include:

• Providing guidance, support, review, and constructive challenge throughout the identification, assessment, and documentation of operational risks across key business areas
• Analysing internal processes to detect potential weaknesses or vulnerabilities and driving improvements in identified areas
• Preparing and delivering detailed risk reports on both regular and ad hoc bases for senior leadership, risk committees, and regulatory bodies, highlighting risk trends, control effectiveness, and areas requiring attention
• Maintaining the risk register including event logging and investigation, categorisation, root-cause analysis, and mitigation tracking, ensuring it remains comprehensive, current, and aligned with the organisation's risk framework
• Supporting regular reviews of the operational risk management framework to ensure alignment with industry best practices and regulatory requirements

What We're Looking For

• Strong understanding of risk management assessment methodologies and frameworks
• Ideally 5+ years of experience in a first or second line role within financial services with a focus on operational risk
• Proven experience with operational risk event management, including incident identification, registration, management, escalation, and remediation/action tracking
• Familiarity with the Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) process
• Familiarity with AI tools and their practical application to automate manual steps within operational risk processes, with a continuous improvement mindset
• Strong written and verbal communication skills plus confidence and experience using Microsoft Office tools
• Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to liaise across risk, compliance, and IT teams
• Experience in professional services (consulting, financial services) is a plus
• Professional qualification (IRM/FRM) is a plus
