Senior MongoDB Administrator (m/w/d)

Responsibilities

We are representing a dynamic technology organization in Brandenburg seeking a Senior MongoDB Administrator to join their infrastructure team. In this role, you will:

• Design, operate, and maintain large-scale, distributed MongoDB clusters in business-critical environments
• Architect and scale Replica Sets and Sharded Clusters to ensure maximum high availability and fault tolerance
• Troubleshoot and optimize cluster performance, including load-balancing across shards, query optimization, and index strategies
• Plan and execute cluster expansions, rebalancing operations, failover scenarios, and rolling upgrades in production environments
• Implement robust backup and recovery strategies for distributed database environments
• Monitor cluster health using industry-standard tooling and respond to performance issues
• Collaborate with development teams to design efficient schema patterns and aggregation pipelines

What We're Looking For

Our client needs a skilled database professional with deep MongoDB cluster experience:

• Several years of hands-on experience building and operating MongoDB clusters in production environments, including Replica Sets, sharding strategies, and enterprise deployments at scale
• Deep understanding of sharding, replication, election processes, and read/write concerns, with experience designing multi-datacenter or multi-region fault-tolerant architectures
• Strong data modeling skills for distributed systems, including efficient schema design, aggregation pipelines, and indexing strategies
• Automation expertise using tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Python, or Bash for provisioning and configuration management
• Container platform experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift for consistent database cluster operations
• Cloud infrastructure knowledge with MS Azure, Amazon Web Services, or Google Cloud Platform for distributed database deployments
• Monitoring and observability experience with tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK Stack
• Security-focused approach including authentication mechanisms (LDAP, Kerberos), role-based access control (RBAC), encryption, and auditing
• German language proficiency at C1 level minimum; English skills are a strong plus
• Willingness to travel occasionally for client site visits
