About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential fintech organization that is transforming traditional industries through innovative technology and artificial intelligence across European markets. Our talent team is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to join their Commercial legal function in Berlin, supporting contract negotiations, vendor management, and international expansion across multiple jurisdictions.
This hybrid role offers the opportunity to work with cross-functional teams across DACH, France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Benelux, Poland, Romania, and the Nordic regions, handling commercial agreements, data protection contracts, and RFP/tender processes.
Responsibilities
- Support RFP and tender processes in coordination with commercial and business development teams
- Lead contract negotiations with prospects and existing clients independently, including compliance reviews for international subsidiaries
- Review and negotiate data protection agreements (DPAs) and contracts with service providers and strategic partners
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders including Data Protection, AI Governance, IT Security, Finance, and external partners to ensure legal compliance
- Contribute to development and implementation of legal operations optimization strategies
- Support the Lead Legal Counsel Commercial and General Counsel on additional legal matters as needed
What We're Looking For
- Law degree (minimum LL.M.) from an EU/EEA jurisdiction, ideally with or equivalent to German second state examination
- Minimum 4 years of experience in Commercial Law, preferably in an international European environment
- At least 2 years of experience negotiating data protection contracts, ideally with partners from France, Italy, Spain, Poland, and Romania
- Practical experience supporting RFP and tender processes, contract negotiations, contract management, and legal reviews in an internationally operating company
- Fluent English is required; French and/or German also required. Additional languages (Italian, Dutch, Swedish) are a strong plus
- Strong stakeholder management experience
- Interest and ability to accurately structure contracts and develop contract management systems and documentation
- Comfort working with AI and smart tools to enhance efficiency
