Senior Java Engineer (m/f/d)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential client in the insurance technology sector, and they need a Senior Java Engineer to take ownership of core platform components. You will dive deep into mature, complex codebases to understand architecture, dependencies, and business logic, then develop robust strategies for evolving and modernizing the software landscape.

You'll design, build, and maintain high-quality, scalable Java applications and services. Mentoring fellow engineers on architectural best practices and clean code principles will be a key part of your role, as will collaborating with product and engineering teams to translate complex requirements into sustainable technical solutions. You'll also drive initiatives to improve code quality, reduce technical debt, and enhance overall system performance.

What We're Looking For

• 8+ years of experience in Java development with deep expertise in Spring Framework (especially Spring Boot) and standard libraries
• Proven ability to quickly understand and effectively manage large, complex codebases—you can see the bigger picture and derive architectural insights from existing systems
• Excellent, in-depth understanding of software architecture principles, design patterns, and best practices
• Strategic thinking skills to develop and execute long-term plans for code evolution and modernization
• Passion for the challenge of refactoring and improving existing systems while ensuring stability and performance
• Solid understanding of databases, APIs, and the software development lifecycle
• Ability to thrive in a dynamic, agile environment where change is constant

Pay
