Senior Fire Protection Engineer

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential engineering consulting organization seeking a Senior Fire Protection Engineer to join their growing team. This customer-facing role focuses on fire protection compliance, code consulting, and jurisdictional coordination. The position is remote-based within the United States, with regular travel to project sites across the US and Canada.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineering and design teams on fire protection projects, delivering cost-efficient solutions for suppression and life safety systems
• Develop and deliver compliance reports to clients with recommendations for fire protection system updates and operational functionality improvements
• Provide code and standard references, including documentation of research, reports, and interpretations for fire protection requirements
• Meet with jurisdictional authorities and clients to resolve compliance questions and facilitate project approvals
• Maintain current working knowledge of evolving codes, standards, and industry specifications related to fire protection engineering
• Manage project timelines and budgets while maintaining quality deliverables

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent experience combined with nationally recognized certifications
• Passed EIT Examination, with ability to sit for Professional Engineering examination within 4 years
• Ability to travel approximately 50% of the time, primarily within the US and Canada (typically week-long trips, averaging 2-3 day site visits)
• Location within 1 hour of a major US airport due to travel requirements
• Authorization to work in the United States

Desired qualifications:

• Working knowledge of fire, life safety, and building codes, along with NFPA standards
• Field engineering or consulting experience in fire protection
• Experience with or knowledge of passive fire protection systems
• Strong time management abilities with proven success meeting deadlines and budgets
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency with MS Office and MS Project software
