(Senior) Expert Software Sourcing & Value Creation (m/f/d)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential consulting organization seeking a software sourcing and value creation professional to join their IT procurement advisory practice.

In this role, you will:

• Analyze existing software spend, license inventories, and contract structures for enterprise clients to identify concrete savings opportunities
• Prepare complex new procurements and contract renewals with major enterprise software and SaaS vendors including SAP, Microsoft, Oracle, Salesforce, Adobe, and ServiceNow
• Work with IT teams, business departments, and program leads to critically evaluate requirements, user groups, license types, modules, add-ons, and growth assumptions
• Develop target volumes, licensing models, contract structures, and negotiation strategies for renewals and new procurements
• Assess license metrics, entitlements, usage rights, edition structures, and contractual mechanisms such as minimum commitments, price escalations, true-ups, audit rights, and termination clauses
• Collaborate with procurement experts to translate business and technical requirements into commercially sound sourcing decisions
• Facilitate workshops, lead client discussions, and structure decision-making processes across IT, business, procurement, and executive stakeholders
• Support implementation of optimization measures including license downsizing, reharvesting, cleanup of unused licenses, edition adjustments, and commitment avoidance
• Contribute to the development of software sourcing and commercial value expertise within the practice

What We're Looking For

• Completed degree in business informatics, business administration, computer science, industrial engineering, or comparable field
• At least five years of professional experience in software procurement, IT vendor management, software asset management, license consulting, IT sourcing, IT commercial management, or comparable environment
• Practical experience with enterprise software and SaaS contracts, particularly in renewals, new procurements, contract optimization, or license cleanup initiatives
• Solid understanding of license metrics, subscriptions, entitlements, usage rights, edition and pricing models, and typical contractual clauses
• Concrete project experience with at least two major vendor ecosystems such as SAP, Microsoft, Oracle, Salesforce, Adobe, or ServiceNow
• Ability to critically challenge requirements and specifications while maintaining focus on underlying business needs
• Experience preparing and conducting commercial negotiations and developing robust negotiation strategies
• Experience leading workshops, structuring complex issues, and collaborating with diverse stakeholder groups
• Consulting experience welcome; candidates from in-house roles should bring experience from cross-functional projects and complex decision-making situations
• Fluent German and English skills, both written and spoken
• Analytical, structured, and independent working style with strong interpersonal and situational awareness
• Willingness to take ownership, drive initiatives forward, and implement solutions effectively at client sites
