Senior AI-Native Data Engineer (f/m/x)

About This Opportunity

Our client, a confidential mobile gaming technology company, is scaling a rewarded user engagement platform that processes high-volume consumer data across global markets. We are representing them in their search for a Senior AI-Native Data Engineer to build and own the data infrastructure that powers their business decisions and product performance.

This role sits at the intersection of data engineering, AI-assisted development, and product impact. You'll be building scalable data systems on Databricks, but what makes this position unique is the expectation that AI tools are core to how you work—not occasional helpers, but daily instruments for planning, building, debugging, and managing parallel workstreams. If you're excited by high-traffic systems, entrepreneurial ownership, and working where a small team with AI can outperform traditional large data organizations, this is the role.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable ETL pipelines on Databricks integrating data from app, web, and marketing partner sources
• Build and manage the Data Lakehouse architecture, including migrating legacy data products and implementing transformations using PySpark
• Monitor and maintain the data stack for nightly and near-real-time processing, continuously optimizing pipelines for quality and performance
• Use Claude and similar AI tools daily to plan, build, debug, and document pipelines—treating AI as core to the workflow rather than supplemental
• Integrate AI directly into version control workflows using Git worktrees or equivalent to run parallel AI-assisted branches simultaneously
• Maintain structured project context and memory for AI tools (such as instruction files) to ensure accuracy as codebases scale
• Run multiple AI coding agents on separate tasks concurrently, reviewing and integrating output to accelerate delivery
• Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering and ML teams to ensure seamless data integration
• Stay current with emerging technologies in data engineering and applied AI, bringing innovations to the team

What We're Looking For

• Minimum 4 years professional experience in data engineering with a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or relevant bootcamp background
• Current, deep hands-on experience with Databricks (at least one year of recent, production-level work designing and optimizing ETL processes)
• Proficiency with AWS services including S3, Kinesis, and Lambda or similar cloud technologies
• Highly proficient in Python, SQL, and PySpark for data manipulation and production-ready code development
• Genuine daily fluency with AI coding tools like Claude across planning, building, debugging, and documentation—this is non-negotiable and core to the role
• Demonstrated ability to set up and maintain project context and memory for AI tools using structured instructions and reusable prompts
• Comfort running parallel tickets with AI assistance using Git worktrees or similar approaches, with the ability to explain your actual workflow in detail
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work both independently and collaboratively
• Fluent English communication (written and verbal), comfortable with AI-assisted coordination where appropriate
• Genuine openness to AI reshaping how data teams operate, not just tolerance of new tools
• Experience with GitLab CI/CD pipelines and PostgreSQL is a plus
