Senior Director, Data Management – South Africa – Remote

About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential clinical research organization seeking a Senior Director of Data Management to lead strategic operations from South Africa. This is a fully remote role offering the chance to provide global leadership across multiple international sites while shaping the future of data management systems and clinical trial operations.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and direction for the data management function across multiple countries and sites
• Develop and implement departmental strategies including system architecture, resource planning, and operational frameworks
• Monitor quality metrics, departmental budgets, and project timelines to ensure efficient delivery of data management solutions
• Allocate resources appropriately and supervise data management teams through coaching, mentoring, and performance development
• Serve as primary escalation point for sponsor personnel and represent data management in business development activities
• Ensure compliance with Good Clinical Practice guidelines, departmental SOPs, and regulatory requirements
• Design and deploy data management solutions that meet clinical trial and clinical data requirements
• Collaborate with technology teams, scientific colleagues, and regulatory auditors
• Maintain and update departmental procedures and working guidelines

What We're Looking For

• Degree-level education or equivalent qualification
• 12+ years of relevant data management experience in clinical drug development
• Proven experience in software or application development and deployment within clinical trials
• Strong knowledge of data management systems, principles, and regulatory guidelines
• Demonstrated ability to design and develop data management solutions for clinical research programs
• Excellent budget management skills including revenue recognition and invoicing
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English
• Proven leadership capabilities with experience managing teams across multiple locations
• Strong organizational skills with ability to align strategies to broader organizational goals
• Track record of managing multiple concurrent projects with sound independent judgment
