(Senior) DevOps Engineer (m/f/x)

Responsibilities

Our client, a confidential technology company based in Berlin, is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to join their dedicated infrastructure team. You'll take end-to-end responsibility for their cloud-native platform and DevOps processes in a dynamic, product-oriented environment.

Your day-to-day responsibilities include:

• Kubernetes & Containers: Operate and expand production clusters, including node setup, upgrades, deployments, and troubleshooting; onboard development teams onto the platform; manage Docker-based container solutions and their integration
• CI/CD & GitOps: Maintain and develop the GitLab environment, including pipelines, runners, Kubernetes agents, and issue-tracking integrations; implement GitOps-based delivery with ArgoCD or Flux
• Automation & Infrastructure as Code: Provision and manage infrastructure using Terraform and Ansible
• Databases: Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot database systems in production
• Observability: Build and operate monitoring stacks (ELK / TIG / Grafana Alloy), including dashboards and alerting
• Networks & Diagnostics: Analyze and optimize network performance; perform log file analysis and systematic root cause analysis, including complex packet-level incidents
• Security: Implement security checks at application and infrastructure levels; manage security gates in pipelines (SAST, dependency scanning, secrets detection, SBOM generation, artifact signing)

What We're Looking For

• Degree in computer science, a STEM field, or equivalent professional experience
• Strong Linux skills and solid networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, TLS, MTU/routing) with proven troubleshooting ability
• At least 3 years of hands-on Kubernetes experience in production environments, along with container technologies (Docker/OCI)
• Hands-on depth with GitLab CI/CD or comparable systems, and GitOps tooling such as ArgoCD or Flux
• Practical experience automating infrastructure and configuration as code with Terraform and Ansible
• Excellent analytical and debugging skills with a structured, detail-oriented approach
• Collaborative mindset—you enjoy developing solutions together, documenting your work, and sharing knowledge across teams
• Professional proficiency in English (working language)

Nice to have:

• Experience with cloud platforms (OCI, Azure, AWS, or GCP) and migration projects
• Familiarity with DevSecOps toolchains such as SonarQube, Sonatype Lifecycle, Trivy, or Cosign/Sigstore

Pay

Compensation details will be discussed during the screening process with our recruiter and are competitive for the Berlin market at the senior level.
