Data Platform Engineer

About the Role

Our talent team is representing a confidential fintech organization seeking a Data Platform Engineer in Berlin, Germany. You will be part of a platform-focused team building self-service, AI-ready data infrastructure that supports critical analytics and data-driven initiatives across a global organization.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain scalable data infrastructure for mission-critical processes
• Develop self-service features for ETL pipelines and orchestration workflows
• Optimize compute resources to improve efficiency and reduce operational costs
• Automate platform operations to ensure high availability and reliability
• Contribute to the design and implementation of new data services and capabilities

What We're Looking For

Required skills and experience:

• Hands-on experience with infrastructure as code and containerization technologies (Terraform, Helm, Docker, Kubernetes)
• Working knowledge of modern query engines such as Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, or Trino
• Experience with data orchestration platforms like Airflow or Dagster
• Proficiency in Python or Go
• Pragmatic, team-first approach to problem-solving
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while balancing stakeholder requirements

Nice to have:

• Experience building and operating high-performance API layers
• Familiarity with dbt for transformation, testing, and documentation workflows
• Query optimization expertise at scale
• Real-time streaming experience with technologies like Kafka, Flink, or ClickHouse
• Track record working with petabyte-scale systems
• Experience implementing AI-enabled automation systems
