Senior Cloud Engineer

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential fintech organization that is modernizing one of the world's most established digital asset exchange platforms. Our client is building next-generation cloud infrastructure to support global expansion and high-velocity trading systems. This is a technical leadership role for an engineer who thrives on transforming legacy systems into modern, scalable architectures.

This Senior Cloud Engineer position is based in London with in-person attendance expected at least 3 days per week. The role requires participation in an on-call rotation to support business-critical systems.

Responsibilities

• Architect and implement high-availability, low-latency cloud infrastructure optimized for performance and portability
• Lead the transition of services to modern containerized environments, optimizing deployment and scaling workflows
• Manage and execute high-priority integration projects connecting legacy systems with modern cloud infrastructure
• Identify and implement backend improvements that enhance platform performance and reduce operational overhead through intelligent automation
• Take end-to-end ownership of complex projects from design through deployment, working with significant autonomy
• Collaborate across engineering teams to interpret complex technical requirements and influence processes that improve overall velocity
• Participate in on-call rotation, applying deep system knowledge to resolve critical issues and ensure 24/7 platform reliability

What We're Looking For

• Experience: 4–5+ years in cloud engineering with strong expertise in containerization using Docker and Kubernetes
• Cloud Platform Skills: Advanced practical experience with AWS services including ECS, EC2, Aurora, and DynamoDB
• Modernization Background: Proven track record modernizing legacy architectures and migrating systems to cloud-native patterns
• Technical Depth: Strong backend engineering fundamentals with experience building low-latency, high-availability systems
• Autonomy: Demonstrated ability to manage entire projects independently, coordinating across teams to solve multi-faceted technical challenges
• Operational Excellence: Experience balancing greenfield automation work with necessary day-to-day operational responsibilities
• Collaboration Skills: Strong communication abilities to guide other engineers and influence stakeholders across departments to reach technical consensus
• Project Management: Practical knowledge managing complex technical and administrative logistics in fast-paced environments
