(Senior) DevOps Engineer

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential fintech organization in Berlin that is building modern banking infrastructure from the ground up. As their third DevOps Engineer, you'll join a small, high-impact team shaping the platform that powers their entire engineering organization. This is an opportunity to own critical infrastructure projects end-to-end in a fast-growing, well-funded environment.

You'll work directly with a Lead DevOps engineer who has established the foundation—now you'll help scale it. You'll build and operate production systems running on AWS and Kubernetes, drive automation initiatives, and set reliability standards that enable the entire engineering team to ship faster and more safely.

Responsibilities

• Own and drive major infrastructure projects autonomously from design through implementation
• Build and operate AWS infrastructure, Kubernetes environments, CI/CD pipelines, and observability systems
• Design infrastructure for failure, automate manual processes, and establish production-grade standards
• Collaborate across engineering, security, and product teams to turn infrastructure into a competitive advantage
• Participate in incident response and continuously improve system reliability
• Shape the infrastructure roadmap and scope future projects alongside the Lead DevOps
• Improve developer experience by removing blockers and streamlining workflows
• Operate under banking-grade regulatory requirements and security standards

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• 4+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, Platform Engineering, or similar roles
• Advanced hands-on experience with AWS services (IAM, EC2, EKS, VPC, CloudWatch, etc.)
• Production-grade Kubernetes experience—ability to design, debug, and operate complex environments
• Strong expertise with Terraform including modules, workspaces, and complex architectures
• Proficiency in Python, Go, or similar languages for automation and tooling development
• Experience designing and maintaining CI/CD systems (GitHub Actions or comparable platforms)
• Familiarity with metrics, logging, distributed tracing, and incident response best practices
• Excellent communication skills—ability to make complex infrastructure concepts clear to developers and stakeholders
• Based in Berlin or willing to relocate—this is an in-person role

• View DevOps narrowly as maintaining traditional CI tools
• Prefer staying strictly within infrastructure boundaries without touching code
• Need detailed requirements before starting work
• Are uncomfortable with banking-grade compliance requirements
• Require a large support team to be productive
