Senior Business Intelligence Lead (all genders)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential client in the mobility sector who needs a Senior Business Intelligence Lead to establish a trusted, single source of truth for their growing organization. As teams scale, inconsistent definitions and conflicting dashboards create confusion. You will solve this by owning the certified data layer—the agreed-upon version of every core metric the business runs on.

Your day-to-day work includes:

• Defining core metrics in partnership with Finance, Product, Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, Engineering, and Platform teams
• Establishing data contracts and clear ownership for each key metric across the organization
• Maintaining and verifying the certified data layer built in ETL tools and surfaced in Metabase, enabling teams to build their own dashboards on a reliable foundation
• Using SQL to validate data, investigate inconsistencies, and trace numbers back to their sources
• Collaborating with the Platform team to identify improvements in data flows, pipelines, and transformations, and advising on prioritization
• Acting as the arbiter when reports disagree—deciding which number to trust and why
• Improving data literacy through practical guidance, workshops, and clear documentation
• Leveraging AI-assisted tools for analysis, documentation, automation, and workflows, while carefully validating results

This is not a role where you become the central owner of every dashboard request. Teams remain responsible for their own dashboards and analyses. This is also not a classic infrastructure or people-management position.

What We're Looking For

Must-have qualifications:

• Senior-level experience in BI, analytics, or data roles; scale-up experience is helpful
• Strong SQL skills—you can read and write SQL, validate data, and trace where numbers come from
• Proven experience defining KPIs with Finance and other business stakeholders
• Experience with data models, data quality, or data governance
• Solid understanding of data flows, pipelines, and transformations
• Confidence working with senior stakeholders and challenging unclear or incorrect numbers
• Hands-on, business-minded approach that connects business questions with practical data solutions
• Experience with automation, AI Agents, or AI-supported workflows
• Fluent written and spoken English; German is a plus

Nice to have:

• Experience with Metabase, dbt, AWS Glue, Spark, Airbyte, or comparable tools
• Experience delivering workshops, enablement programs, or data literacy initiatives
• Background in B2B SaaS, EV charging, energy, mobility, or related fields

You do not need every tool on the list. Our client cares most about strong SQL, sound data thinking, and the ability to bring people to one shared definition.

This position is based in München with an expectation of at least three days on-site each week.
