Senior Business Data Consultant – Reference Data

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential investment banking organization in their search for a Senior Business Data Consultant to support a large-scale reference data and data quality programme. This is a hybrid role based in London, available as either a permanent or fixed-term contract.

You'll work closely with a Programme Manager to analyse and document data quality issues across multiple asset classes within a front office environment. The position is heavily focused on data investigation, root cause analysis, and supporting the definition of remediation strategies.

Responsibilities

• Systematically document and analyse client reference data quality issues across the organization
• Map data flows, sources, and ownership across asset classes including credit, rates, and FX
• Perform root cause analysis identifying technology, process, governance, and ownership gaps
• Maintain structured data issue logs with impact assessments and clear recommendations
• Support the development of remediation roadmaps and prioritization frameworks
• Collaborate with business stakeholders and technical teams to validate findings
• Contribute to data readiness initiatives, including AI-related use cases
• Produce clear documentation including issue logs, data dictionaries, process flows, and reports

What We're Looking For

• Extensive experience in data or business analysis within investment banking or capital markets
• Strong understanding of client reference data and data lifecycle management
• Experience working across multiple fixed income and currency asset classes
• Strong data literacy including SQL, data structures, and data modelling concepts
• Proven ability to analyse complex data issues end-to-end
• Comfortable working in fast-paced, ambiguous environments
• Experience with data governance, data quality frameworks, or master data management is beneficial
• Valid UK work authorization is required
