Senior BI Developer (m/w/d)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential technology client in Munich seeking a Senior BI Developer to build modern data solutions that turn reliable data into actionable insights and better business decisions.

In this role, you will work autonomously on challenging client projects while maintaining direct communication with technical and business stakeholders. Your responsibilities include:

• Develop and enhance BI and data solutions using Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, and Azure
• Build and maintain lakehouses, data warehouses, data pipelines, and notebooks
• Create high-performance Power BI models, reports, and DAX calculations
• Design and optimize SQL-based data structures and models
• Translate business requirements into concrete technical implementation steps
• Independently coordinate technical matters with clients from IT and business departments
• Plan and estimate development effort within agile project teams
• Develop, test, document, and deploy data products to production
• Use modern AI tools to optimize development, analysis, documentation, and quality assurance
• Design and implement AI-based data products for specific business use cases
• Identify and explore meaningful applications for automation, bots, copilots, and AI agents
• Transform successful AI prototypes into secure, maintainable production solutions
• Work with version control and collaborative development processes using Git and Azure DevOps
• Proactively identify and communicate risks, data issues, or unclear requirements
• Recognize optimization potential in existing data landscapes
• Document best practices and share knowledge within the team

What We're Looking For

You combine strong technical competence with the ability to communicate complex topics clearly. You are confident in direct client interactions and take ownership of your technical responsibilities.

Required qualifications:

• Minimum 4 years professional experience in BI or data platform development
• Experience collaborating with clients and business stakeholders
• Strong knowledge of the Azure data ecosystem, particularly Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, or Synapse
• Practical experience with lakehouse and data warehouse concepts
• Excellent Power BI skills, especially data modeling, DAX, and reporting
• Excellent SQL knowledge
• Proficiency with dimensional data modeling and star schema concepts
• Experience with ETL/ELT processes, data pipelines, and notebook-based workflows
• Experience in agile development environments working with user stories, effort estimation, and sprint goals
• Knowledge of Git and modern collaborative development processes
• Experience with testing, deployment, and operating production data solutions
• Excellent English language skills, written and spoken
• Routine and responsible use of modern AI tools such as Copilot, Claude, Cursor, or comparable solutions

Highly valued additional qualifications:

• Experience developing and implementing AI-powered data products
• Knowledge of current LLMs and small language models
• Experience with LLM APIs, agent orchestration, or automation platforms
• Familiarity with tools like n8n, Make, or comparable technologies
• Experience transforming AI prototypes into secure, maintainable production solutions
• Databricks knowledge
• Python or PySpark experience
• German language skills at B2 level or above
• Experience in customer-facing project environments
• Willingness to actively track technological developments and share insights with the team
