Senior Backend Engineer (Ruby), AI Catalog: External Agents

Responsibilities

Our talent team is representing a confidential DevSecOps platform organization seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join their AI integrations team. In this role, you will design and build integrations that connect AI agents with external tools and third-party solutions. You'll take end-to-end ownership of complex features and help shape architectural patterns for AI functionality exposure.

Your core responsibilities will include:

• Developing, shipping, and maintaining secure, well-tested, and performant external agent integrations across a Ruby monolith backend
• Collaborating with product management, user experience, frontend, backend, and AI specialists to refine requirements and deliver improvements iteratively
• Designing, implementing, and reviewing GraphQL and REST APIs with clear contracts for frontend clients
• Improving and extending automated testing, including RSpec and other frameworks, to strengthen quality and reliability
• Sharing standards, patterns, and lessons with other engineers to support responsible AI integration across the team
• Participating in Tier 2 on-call rotations, troubleshooting production issues, and improving observability and resiliency
• Assessing the competitive landscape to help build strong AI integrations as agentic technology evolves

What We're Looking For

We're seeking candidates with strong Ruby on Rails experience and a demonstrated ability to build AI-powered backend features. The ideal candidate will bring:

• Production experience building and maintaining applications with Ruby on Rails, including background jobs, APIs, and data models
• Comfort working across the stack in a mature codebase
• Proficiency in designing or extending REST or GraphQL APIs with attention to scalability, maintainability, and backward compatibility
• Practical experience designing and shipping AI-powered backend features or integrations
• Strong SQL skills and familiarity with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, including efficient queries and data modeling
• Experience identifying and addressing performance bottlenecks at the application and infrastructure layers
• Openness to learning and collaborating in an asynchronous, distributed team environment

Familiarity with Python backends or Vue frontends is a plus but not required.

Pay
