Our talent team at Get A Job.ai is representing a confidential aerospace organization based in Munich, Germany. We are seeking a Senior Avionics System Engineer to join their mission-critical spacecraft development programs. This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge space transportation systems, contributing to the design, integration, and validation of advanced avionics architectures.
As a senior member of the engineering team, you will play a key role in defining system-level requirements, managing complex interfaces, and ensuring robust electronic systems for data handling, communications, and control across all mission phases.
Responsibilities
- Define and develop avionics system architectures, including electronics, data handling, and communication functions
- Ensure end-to-end consistency of data flows, interfaces, and system-level requirements across spacecraft subsystems
- Support selection and specification of avionics equipment, computing platforms, sensors, and communication hardware
- Define onboard and ground-related communication and data handling concepts, including telemetry and telecommand architectures
- Manage interfaces between avionics and other spacecraft subsystems including power, propulsion, GNC, and payload systems
- Coordinate interface definitions with internal teams, suppliers, and external stakeholders
- Technically present and defend avionics subsystem designs and verification evidence with external regulatory and certification authorities (NASA, ESA, and other government agencies)
- Define and support verification and validation strategies, participating in simulation, hardware-in-the-loop testing, and system-level testing activities
- Capture, analyze, and manage system and subsystem requirements with full traceability from mission objectives to implementation
- Contribute to spacecraft-level trade-offs balancing performance, reliability, mass, power, and cost
- Support integration campaigns, launch preparation, and mission operations as needed

- Demonstrated experience with system integration and interface management
- Experience with requirements engineering and system lifecycle development processes
- Knowledge of verification and validation methods, including testing and simulation
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary engineering environments
Preferred Qualifications:
- Direct experience in spacecraft avionics or aerospace systems development
- Familiarity with space communication and data standards such as CCSDS
- Experience with hardware-in-the-loop testing, simulation environments, or digital engineering tools
- Background in safety-critical or mission-critical system development
- Experience working in international or multi-stakeholder engineering teams
