Senior Accounting Onboarding Specialist

About This Opportunity

We are representing a fast-growing fintech client in search of a Senior Accounting Onboarding Specialist. This is a remote, full-time role for candidates based in the United States.

Our client is modernizing how small business owners manage their finances through intelligent automation. As the first point of contact for new clients, you'll guide them through system setup, data clean-up, and account activation in a high-touch, high-volume environment.

This role rewards people who communicate proactively, adapt quickly when plans change, and hold themselves accountable for outcomes. The ideal candidate has a magnetic presence on calls and genuinely enjoys working with small business owners—someone clients look forward to speaking with and who builds their confidence from the very first interaction.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily client meetings to gather financial data, clarify scope, and build trust through rapport, clarity, and follow-through
• Set up and configure accounting software accounts, including resolving integration and access issues with payment processors, payroll systems, and inventory platforms so systems sync cleanly from day one
• Compare signed proposals to actual client needs during initial calls and flag scope or pricing mismatches immediately to prevent trust erosion later
• Manage a high volume of onboarding timelines and deliverables simultaneously, proactively escalating when workload or specific accounts are at risk of falling behind
• Troubleshoot setup and data issues using sound accounting judgment, surfacing mistakes quickly as learning opportunities rather than hiding them
• Find creative workarounds to keep stalled onboardings moving—manual data entry when feeds break, alternate document paths, or flexible scheduling—prioritizing on-time, good-enough solutions over perfection
• Collaborate across sales, implementation, accounting, and tax teams to resolve handoff gaps and transition accounts smoothly into ongoing support

What We're Looking For

• 6+ years in a client-facing accounting or onboarding role, ideally in public or multi-client accounting at Senior Associate level or higher
• 6+ years of daily QuickBooks Online experience including setup, integrations, and troubleshooting (not desktop)
• Strong working knowledge of both cash-basis and accrual-basis accounting
• Demonstrated ability to manage 25+ active client relationships simultaneously without letting communication or follow-through slip
• Someone who escalates early, adapts on the fly, and takes ownership of outcomes rather than absorbing pressure silently
• A warm, confident, and memorable presence with clients—able to build real rapport quickly, put anxious business owners at ease, and make technical processes feel personal rather than transactional
• Comfortable having direct conversations with clients about scope and pricing when expectations don't match reality, and willing to admit and correct course quickly when something is off
