About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential building materials distribution organization in the Bad Salzuflen area. Our client seeks a Team Leader for Operational Procurement to oversee their tile product division and lead a dedicated purchasing team.

This is a leadership role combining operational procurement expertise with strategic thinking, offering the opportunity to shape purchasing processes and supplier relationships for a key product category across multiple German locations.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a 6-person procurement team through both technical guidance and disciplinary leadership
• Drive strategic development of the tile product range across German operations
• Build and maintain long-term supplier relationships
• Negotiate supplier terms, conditions, and framework agreements
• Analyze procurement KPIs, derive actionable measures, and report to procurement leadership
• Continuously optimize and digitalize procurement processes
• Manage pricing and margins in collaboration with sales teams
• Oversee procurement projects related to product range, new product launches, and process improvements
• Serve as central interface between logistics, finance, and 20+ branch locations for the tile category

What We're Looking For

• Completed commercial apprenticeship or university degree
• Minimum 3 years of operational procurement experience, ideally in wholesale or construction-related environments
• Minimum 2 years of leadership experience
• Very good German language skills
• Digital affinity and enthusiasm for modern tools and AI in daily work
• Strategic mindset with demonstrated experience in process optimization
• Interest in a long-term key role with growing responsibility
• Willingness to travel occasionally
