SDIII Backend Engineer

Mrsool is hiring a Software Development Engineer III (Backend) to lead core technical initiatives from our India operations. This full-time role combines hands-on backend engineering with strategic technical leadership for an experienced engineer ready to build and scale systems serving millions of users across the MENA region.

Position Summary

We're seeking a senior backend technologist to own significant technical initiatives across our platform. You'll guide project delivery from conception through production, partnering with product, design, operations, and fellow engineers to architect systems that are both robust and infinitely scalable. This position blends deep coding work with technical influence—a direct opportunity to shape infrastructure decisions that impact our growth and reliability at scale.

What You'll Do

• Lead technical planning through design reviews, architectural documentation, and engineering best practices that guide the team
• Design and build high-throughput, low-latency systems capable of processing massive transactional volume reliably
• Make backend technology decisions leveraging Ruby on Rails, Go, and additional tools to solve complex problems
• Optimize database performance, query execution, and cache strategies using PostgreSQL, Redis, and related technologies while maintaining data integrity across distributed services
• Collaborate across product management, design, operations, and engineering squads to deliver integrated, seamless features
• Coach and mentor engineers at earlier career stages through code review, feedback, and professional development
• Identify and eliminate system bottlenecks, address root causes of infrastructure issues, and champion automated testing and monitoring
• Shape long-term platform strategy, balancing feature delivery with architectural stability and organizational scalability

Qualifications

• 5 to 8+ years of hands-on software development in growth-stage startups or established technology companies
• Production expertise with Ruby on Rails and Go, with demonstrated ability to build high-performance APIs and concurrent systems
• Strong grasp of distributed systems fundamentals: concurrency models, network trade-offs, and consistency principles
• Proficiency with PostgreSQL, RESTful APIs, gRPC, and MVC architectural patterns
• Systems thinking ability—comfortable reasoning about non-functional requirements including reliability, throughput, security, and user experience
• Preference for incremental, iterative releases and small changes to large systems over multi-quarter rewrites
• Proven track record navigating ambiguity, setting technical expectations, managing stakeholders, and thriving in fast-moving environments
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent technical field
