About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential life sciences technology organization in their search for a Scientific Data Architect based in the Frankfurt am Main region. This role sits at the intersection of scientific domain expertise and modern data platform engineering, supporting critical R&D and quality initiatives for leading pharmaceutical organizations.

This is a client-facing position requiring regular onsite presence in the Frankfurt area (typically a couple of days per week), combined with flexible remote work arrangements. You'll be building transformative data solutions that accelerate scientific discovery and development.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement extensible, reusable data models that efficiently capture and organize scientific data for analytical and AI/ML use cases
• Translate complex scientific data workflows into robust technical solutions within a modern cloud-based data platform
• Develop Python-based parsers to extract and structure data from proprietary scientific instruments and laboratory software
• Build laboratory software integrations (ELN/LIMS) via APIs to enable seamless data flow
• Create data visualization applications and dashboards using Python frameworks such as Streamlit, along with plotting libraries like Plotly and holoviews
• Collaborate with scientific business analysts, customer scientists, and applied AI engineers to develop and deploy various modeling approaches (machine learning, statistical, mechanistic, and hybrid models)
• Engage directly with client scientists and stakeholders onsite, building strong relationships and deeply understanding their scientific data challenges
• Rapidly iterate solutions through regular demos and feedback sessions with scientific end users and technical stakeholders
• Proactively communicate implementation progress and deliver compelling demonstrations to customer stakeholders
• Contribute to product roadmap prioritization by identifying customer pain points and solution opportunities
• Continuously learn new technologies and scientific analysis applications to expand solution capabilities

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

• PhD with 4+ years or Master's degree with 8+ years of industry experience in life sciences
• Extensive domain knowledge in one or more areas: drug discovery (target identification through lead optimization), preclinical development, chemistry/manufacturing/controls (CMC) for any drug modality, or product quality testing
• Proven track record of defining, designing, prototyping, and implementing productized AI/ML-driven use cases in cloud environments
• Strong experience with Python development, including data parsing, API integration, and application frameworks
• Demonstrated ability to perform exploratory data analysis and workflow optimization that enables previously impossible scientific outcomes
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams including product managers, software engineers, and scientific stakeholders
• Excellent communication and storytelling abilities, with experience engaging audiences from bench scientists to executive stakeholders
• Background in consulting or advising scientists to advance research, development, and quality testing outcomes
• Business proficiency in German required (C1 level)
• Must be authorized to work in Germany; visa sponsorship is not available for this position
